Kazuya Taguchi was born in Hokkaido Japan where they are most famous for their beautiful ski mountains, cold weather and icy roads. This is where he first learned how to drift at the age of 15 years old from a friend in a Lexus SC300. He was instantly hooked. In Japan, he competed in both D1 GRAND PRIX and Formula Drift Japan since 2014 before transitioning to Formula Drift USA.

Kazuya Taguchi made his debut in Formula Drift USA 2018 in Round 1 Streets of Long Beach driving Jerry Yang Racing's VR41 powered 2014 Nissan GT-R. He is best known for his J-Style. In 2019, Jerry Yang Racing built him a Silvia Nissan S15 which he piloted for the 2019 and 2020 season.

2021 Kazuya debut yet another new vehicle, a Toyota FRS with a GTR motor and finished 9th in the series. He now resides in Los Angeles, CA as he opened UPGARAGE's first USA Flagship store in Torrance CA. When Kazuya is not competing in Formula Drift or working long hours at UPGARAGE, he can be seen at the local grassroot events in his Nissan 180SX.
