Cody Buchanan was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. Starting with BMX freestyle, he has been involved under the action sports category since early on. Getting into cars came quickly during high school and drifting soon to follow.
Without a track near his hometown, he pursued drifting on back highways away from town, as well as out of state drift events. In 2018, SRD began working with ND Drift to build a local track 10 minutes away from Cody’s hometown. Dubbed Interstate Raceway, Cody now had a track to call his home.
After two years of competing locally, he set off to travel across the country in search of more competition. In 2021 Cody won his Formula Drift license in Vegas. 2023 will mark Cody’s rookie year in Formula Drift ProSpec, as well as becoming the first professional drift team from North Dakota.
