A driver for any track and any car...

“Any track, any car”, that's the motto of the driver in the D'Vanz Motorsports Mustang. Doug has won countless poles, races and championships in more types of cars, on more types of tracks in more different series than most people would ever believe. Truth is, this racer from North Carolina just loves to drive. He has nearly 200 races/events to his credit, a top-4 finishing ratio of 67% and has a staggering win ratio of over 23%. After capturing the Formula Drift Pro-Am National Championship in 2006, Doug has spent the last 2 seasons competing in Formula D on a limited schedule. This “privateers, privateer” has managed to succeed on his own terms and is renowned for making the most with what he has. So much so that Doug continues to build his organizational network that now includes race prep shops on both East and West coasts.
With more Formula D events planned in 2009, don't be surprised to see DVM knocking on the door of some of the more established “Top-16” teams this year. While drifting now takes up the majority of his time, Doug still jumps at the chance to “circuit” race when the opportunity presents itself. Whether it be a Midget or Sprint car in Indiana, a Time Attack or Formula car in California, an Off-Road truck in Baja or a Stock car back home in the Carolinas, Doug likes nothing more than strapping himself into or on anything fast. Doug has only been “drifting” for 4 seasons, but his racing roots go back as far as his 7th birthday when he first got behind the wheel of a Quarter Midget. Winning the pole for his first race, he went on to be a local “terror” at tracks around his family's home.
After a single year in Solo II (where he won his class championship), Doug moved on to road racing including Karts, Formula cars and Sedans, winning and setting records all along the way. The next few years “greener pastures” led Doug to Stock Cars where he won his first National Championship. When again, sponsorship dollars dried up, Doug found new opportunities in a new sport called drifting. Building his own car with significant help from friends like Bobby Young and many interested product suppliers, Doug continues pursuing this fun and dynamic sport. The goals for Doug and the DVM crew in 2009 are simple: continue to capitalize on their many successes and show potential marketing partners that they are good corporate representatives.
With any luck, full season sponsorship is right around the corner allowing Doug to be hot on the heels of yet another national title. |
