Drift Alliance Takes the Team Drift Win in Long Beach

Team Drift Alliance took home the top honors at today’s Team Drift competition during the Long Beach Grand Prix. They drifted in front of thousands of fans after the IZOD Indycar Series race and entertained them with their consistent and synchronized drifting through the streets of Long Beach. This is the third victory in a row for Team Drift Alliance which consisted of Joon Maeng in Full Tilt Poker / Nitto Tires Mazda RX-8, champion Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Drink Nissan 350Z, and Justin Pawlak in the Falken Mazda RX-7.

Long Beach Magazine Recognizes FD Founders

Formula DRIFT founders Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage have been recognized by Long Beach magazine in their annual Innovative Icons issue. The Formula DRIFT office is based in Long Beach and has worked closely with the city for their events including Round 1: Streets of Long Beach, Team Drift during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, and the Red Bull Drifting World Championship held on the Port of Long Beach. Each event has brought revenue and exposure to the city and Long Beach Magazine has recognized them for their hard work, innovation, and commitment to the city.

Conrad Grunewald and Michael Essa on Team Drift

Veteran Formula DRIFT driver Conrad Grunewald and rookie Michael Essa talk about the Team Drift competition this weekend. Grunewald had the Corvette put back together in 4 days after his crash at the Round 1: Streets of Long Beach event. Essa and Grunewald have something similar in common, both run on Corvette engines, but Essa’s lies inside the body of a Mazda RX-7!

Today is the Team Drift Finals at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach at 11:05 AM. Don’t miss out!

Team Drift Practice

The Team Drift teams began practice yesterday during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. A couple cars had a rough start with Pat Mordaunt spinning out and Matt Powers close behind t-boning Mordaunt on the passenger side. Both drivers are ok, but Powers may not be able to compete this weekend due to damage to his car.

Tuner Thursday FD Gets Ready for the LB Grand Prix

Last night the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach kicked off their annual Tuner Thursday activities. Formula DRIFT took part and had some cars on display and drivers giving out autographs to the lucky fans. Don’t forget this weekend is the Team Drift exhibition during the Grand Prix.
