Global Time Attack returns to Road Atlanta to kick off the 2013 GTA Pro Championship series at Drift Atlanta with Formula Drift. Road Atlanta’s Drift Atlanta event featuring Formula DRIFT consistently draws crowd’s well over 20,000 Motorsport fans! This is the largest attended time attack event in the country! Last year the Global Time Attack field was comprised of 24 time attack teams and Jeff Westphal stood out with a record-breaking lap of 1:23.628 in the GST Motorsports 2006 Subaru Impreza L.  Who will beat this time in 2013?  We have already confirmed a few entries from teams in California, Arizona, and even Canada that are making the trip to Road Atlanta for Global Time Attack.

Time attack your car and find out if you have what it takes!  Your car will be on track in front of thousands of screaming fans! You do not need an invite to compete, and registration is open to all.

Road Atlanta is a world-renowned road course and this is your chance to tackle it! GTA has a Class that fits your car. This GTA Pro Championship round will offer $10,000 in cash prizes plus much, much more in product contingency prizes. We work hard and smart to ensure that we provide the best environment for time attack racers to compete in a safe and professional manner.

The Global Time Attack represents the ultimate expression of automotive technology. This innovative racing series is quickly taking the motorsport world by storm, testing the drivers, teams and cars to their limits on a wide variety of dedicated race circuits with the singular goal of setting record lap times.  We set the stage for the fastest timed laps in racing where drivers compete against the clock, allowing teams to focus solely on achieving the fastest lap times against other drivers and machines on a given circuit. Global Time Attack teams can showcase their fabrication, tuning and set-up skills in order to create the fastest car possible. Global Time Attack car classes include Unlimited, Limited, Street, and Enthusiast determined by the amount of allowable modifications and separated by drive train configuration All Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive and Front Wheel Drive.

Global Time Attack is aimed to create the ultimate venue where racers and machines compete against each other and time itself in all manner of car platforms to be the best in the world.

PRIZE MONEY: Each GTA Pro Championship round will offer $10,000 in cash prizes plus much, much more in product contingency prizes. The GTA Pro Championship Unlimited, Limited, and Street Cars are awarded $600 to the first place winners and $200 to the second place winners. The GTA Enthusiast Class does not offer prize money, only trophies.

RULES: Major points: no wing boxes or minimum ride heights. Nitrous oxide and motorsport use only slicks are permitted in the Unlimited Class. No pro drivers in Street or Enthusiast Classes. All safety regulations adhere to the 2013 GTA CCR. GTA rules mainly list what is prohibited rather than what is allowed in an effort to encourage as much innovation as possible while still maintaining a fair playing field. View the 2013 GTA Rules

TIRES:
Unlimited Class
allows any DOT tire, and also allows Racing Slicks.
Limited Class DOT-approved treaded tires with a minimum UTQG-rating of 80 or higher.
Street Class DOT-approved treaded tires with a minimum UTQG-rating of 140 or higher. And Maximum tire width is AWD: 255, RWD: 285
Enthusiast Class same tire regulations as the Street Class.

Road Atlanta Logo Contest!

Road Atlanta is holding a contest to find the person who can design the most creative Drift Atlanta logo. We are looking for a unique and exciting logo with a new twist to use as the icon for this event! All submissions must be turned in via e-mail to [email protected] by January 14th at 5pm.

Provide your first and last name, street address, no post office boxes, city, state, zip code, telephone number and email address.

The winner will receive:

  • $200.00
  • Four General Admission tickets to the 2012 Drift Atlanta event and one parking pass
  • VIP seating for the winner only in the Announcer Tower (not offered to public)
  • Drift car ride for the winner only with a pro driver on track (only for the winner, not offered to public)

Gushi vs Forsberg – Forsberg leads and Gushi chases. Good run by both to start the Great 8. Gushi leads and Forsberg chases tight to the TC. The collide in the horseshoe. Forsberg gets the win.

Yoshihara vs McNamara – Yoshihara leads and McNamara chases tightly. McNamara now leads and Yoshihara gives chase. Good battle between the 2 drivers. Judges can’t decide so we go to a One More Time.

OMT Run 1 – Dai leads and McNamara chases tightly into the first clipping point. Both cars collide in the horseshoe. The rear bumper of Dai is destroyed. McNamara leads and Yoshihara sticks tight. Great run. Yoshihara gets the win.

Tuerck vs Gittin – Tuerk leads and Gittin follows closely. Good run. Gittin leads and Tuerk chases but a gap is created after the horseshoe. Gittin gets the win.

Essa vs Grunewald -Essa takes the win.

Top 4
Forsberg vs Yoshihara – Yoshihara takes the win.

Gittin vs Essa – They have a OMT battle. Gittin takes the win.

Consolation for 3rd place – Forsberg vs. Essa – Forsberg takes the win after Essa spins.

Yoshihara vs Gittin – Good battle. Congrats to Dai Yoshihara!
